Stacy and Courtney are looking to change the script in professional development. While many in the world of professional development come to schools with plans in hand, Stacy and Courtney arrive with a notebook in hand ready to listen to your school’s unique struggles. Their combined backgrounds in everything from teacher preparation to innovative education to literacy in the content areas to social emotional learning give them a breadth of experience to help meet your school and staff’s needs.

Staff

Co-Founder & Consultant
Courtney Luce, MAT

Courtney Luce works at the University of Northern Colorado as the coordinator for secondary teacher preparation. Her passion and field of interest is in innovative school designs, and she was recently a co-founder of The Fred Tjardes School of Innovation. She also teaches classes in cross-content literacy instruction and writing and has been involved in instructional coaching, teaching professional development, and curriculum and assessment design at the district and state level. She loves working with future and current teachers in bridging the gap that sometimes occurs between teaching and student learning and working with schools to discover how to better prepare teachers for 21st century schools. Courtney has a Master’s in Teaching and has completed all required coursework for a PhD in Educational Philosophy with a research focus for her dissertation on innovative education and motivation. 

Co-Founder & Consultant
Stacy Bailey, PhD

Stacy Bailey has a PhD in Educational Psychology with a Doctoral Minor in Applied Statistical Research Methods and a Master’s degree in English Education. She is currently an Assistant Professor and co-director of the English Education program at the University of Northern Colorado where she prepares future English teachers for the world of secondary education. Her research focus is in motivation and interest, and she works in the theory of “Growth Mindset” and micro-interventions. She has been involved in teaching professional development and coaching practicing teachers in large school districts for the last four years on a variety of topics from instructional practices to specific cross-content reading and writing strategies. Stacy is also a board member for the College English Association and an active member of the National Council for Teachers of English.
